Sports  

 

Lake Annecy is great for water sports, swimming, fishing, water-Skiing, diving. There are 6 beaches sheltered from the north winds, with a magnificent panoramic view. (3 supervised beaches at Talloires, 1 beach at Menthon and 2 free beaches in Veyrier)

 

Hiking: path in front of the house, 15 minutes to Hermitage of St. Germain and access to breathtaking Waterfall of Angon.) Roc de Cher only minutes away, access to “the grand Tour of Lake Annecy.

 

Adventure Park of Planfait is of particular interest for the non flying part of the family as it is directly at the take-off site.. All year Ice-skating, summer-fun at lift at Col de la Forclaz, canyoning, cycling and mountain biking, Inline-Skating (more than 20km biking/inline skating-path along the lake). 

This is a cycling and mountain biking paradise: for the more sportive cyclist there are various tours and passes from the "Tour-de-France" mountain region! If you are lucky, you can watch the Tour de France Peloton right in front of the house!

 

Only minutes to horse riding and 18 hole-golf course at Menthon St. Bernard.

 

Winter sports: Semnoz above Annecy is a great place for cross country and alpine skiing. The large Ski Stations of Grand Bornand and La Clusaz are approx. 25 kms away..

 

  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Cultural Activities

   

The city of Annecy is just 10 minutes away and offers a wide variety of cultural and recreational activities, including its celebrated seasonal festivals. Annecy is known as the “Venice of France,” with its flower-lined canals and cobbled streets. Annecy has an impressive chateau and cathedral, and the famous old prison on the channel.

Many markets, shops and art art galleries invite to stroll through town and there are museums worth visiting.There are guided tours or explore the city and parks by yourself!

Talloires is just 45 minutes  drive from Geneva, Switzerland.

Chamonix and the Mont Blanc range are an hour’s drive from Talloires.

 

Festivals

 

There are various festivals around the lake. Most famous is the Venetian Carneval, the “Fete-du-Lac” beginning of August and the Summer Musical festivals in all communes along the lake.

For children the famous children festival in Grond Bornand is surely worth a visit as well as the "nuit des etoiles" free star-watching event in August.

 

Please refer to the site of Annecy Tourism Office to get the latest information on events. As much info as possible will be available in the apartment, but just stop by the tourist information center at Veyrier, Menthon or Talloires to get the latest updates!  

 

French language Courses   

 

There are several language schools in Annecy. However, we recommend the IFALPES which operates under University Control specializing in teaching French as a foreign Language to international students of all age. Courses are offered weekly, monthly or individually all year long. Courses comprised of no more than 12 students are taught by certified instructors with focus on communication. The institute is located closed to the old town at the lake and offer a variety of exhibitions and leisure activities for their students, as well

Culinary Delights  

Annecy and the region are famous for its culinary specialties like the Tartiflette, Raclette, the cheeses, the myrtilli-cakes and many more.

Around the lake you will find an enormous variety of Restaurant of high quality standard with local specialities and also gourmet cuisines like the famous Marc Veyrat at Veyrier or the Auberge de Pere Bise in Talloires.

Besides all the mentioned activities, Lake Annecy is a perfect area to just doing nothing but enjoying the French "Savoir Vivre". 

Stroll through the historic town, channel and parks and enjoy the cafés and restaurants.

Have a nice sun-bath at the Col de la Forclaz or Chalet d'Aulp with its breathtaking view over the lake and mountains, look down to Chateau Duingt the same way Cezanne did over 100 years ago or…

…just sit on our beautiful TERRACE, watch the PARAGLIDERS landing smoothly in the EVENING SKY, and ENJOY the SUNSET with a nice glass of FRENCH WINE…
